So I was swimming down a canal in a remote area with river banks that were high with tall grass and reeds. I looked up and saw some of the most amazing trees covered in moss. They had the strangest shapes to them as they bent and twisted up towards the sky. The Sky was orange and the sun was blue. As I was swimming I looked down and saw a small turtle and a large turtle. I scooped my hands down and gently picked the large turtle up. It did not fight, it did not retreat to it's shell. It stayed in my hands looking at me with an enormous amount of wisdom in it's eyes. As I let it go to return to swimming the turtles turned into dolphins. We were swimming really fast. I was able to keep up with the dolphins with very little effort. The water was warm and I could see the blue green algae covering the rocks below. I could see microscopic creatures crawling around on the surface of the river. I could actually smell the water and taste the water. I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom. . . . then my alarm rang. I awoke to find myself in my bunk on the bus. However brief that moment was while I was dreaming it seemed to last hours. I cannot give justice to the visualization of my dream.
It was a great escape.
Today I am going let that resonate in my mind and in everything I do. I am going to go with the flow of the day and not resist anything. We are playing at Irving Plaza tonight in New York City. It should be a good turnout today. The record label has a lot of folks coming out to the show and well, after all it's Friday evening in New York City. After tonight we head back down south to play in Washington DC. Then we turn around and hit Albany New York, Boston, Montreal, and Toronto.
In 16 days I will be back in Portland to do a show at the Hawthorne theater. Chris and I are going to stay in Portland the following day and then fly down to Sacramento to finish the last week of the tour. I will feel pretty good about this after the Canada shows.
I did however have some fantastic pizza last night. I cannot express how amazing Pizza tastes here. Chris and I walked around for hours last night. We had some Thai food and on the way back to the hotel decided to buy two small Pizza's. Yeah, I know, that's a lot of food but when in the City you have to eat Pizza. It's the thing that the west coast just doesn't have. It was really cold out last night but it felt really good to be out in fresh, crisp, air.
New York City is really a beautiful site at night. I admit that when I was in Times Square I became a bit overwhelmed by the massive amount of people. It looked like a dam had started leaking people and that at any moment the streets would fill up and flood with people. It was a bit too much. We retreated to Hoboken where we parked the bus.
I am going to go shower and get ready to head back in the city to do the show.
I wish you all the best.
Much Love.
